Visual Journalist
The Sun Herald in Biloxi, Mississippi, seeking an energetic visual journalist to cover the Mississippi Gulf Coast area.
The visual journalist must be a first-rate reporter who can tell stories through photographs, videos, and the written word. Versatility is key for this position. In any given week, the reporter may write, shoot and edit a compelling documentary-style video, shoot a Friday night football game and share photos in real time via social media, capture a compelling photo to accompany another reporter’s feature story, rush to capture visuals for a breaking story and edit aggregated video from other sources to give the best sense of a story.
Experience in daily journalism is a must, as is experienced with DSLR cameras and professional video editing software. The successful candidate must have experience reporting stories and not just capturing video and photos for the stories of others.
The Sun Herald offers competitive salary and excellent benefits. It is located on the Gulf Coast, just minutes away from the beach. The warm climate, growing entertainment options and coastal industries — along with the cities of New Orleans and Mobile, both just over an hour away — provide for a dynamic living environment, while the environment, businesses and distinct cultures and governments across twelve municipalities provide plentiful opportunities for great stories and accountability journalism.
