Seasonal Land Rehabilitation Support Technician
Seasonal Land Rehabilitation Support Technician position available at Fort Hunter Liggett.
Responsibilities:
Incumbent will assist the Training Land Restoration Project (TLRP) component of the Sustainable Range Program (SRP) to sustain realistic training land conditions and the support of mission requirements for units at the installation. Incumbent will conduct field work, collect data, survey and assist with land rehabilitation projects by clearing debris, mowing, removing invasive species, operating light and heavy equipment, and other assigned duties. Incumbent will help maintain trails, roads and training lands.
Qualifications Required:
A high school degree with a minimum of six continuous months of specialized experience in land rehabilitation or the use of light and heavy equipment typically associated with land rehabilitation projects (e.g., heavy -- trucks, trailers, hydroseeders, tractors, and light equipment--irrigation, chainsaws, associated motorized equipment etc.). Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work in field conditions including rugged terrain and extreme weather (low humidity, extreme heat) as well as be able to repeatedly lift at least 50 pounds. Must maintain a current driver’s license for the location. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience with programs similar to the U.S. Army’s Sustainable Range Management and Integrated Training Area Management. California CDL. Familiarity with California Central Coast vegetation or similar vegetation type. Experience with vegetation monitoring techniques and applications. Experience working on military installations. Experience with the use of global position systems (GPS).
Pay Rate and Duration:
Pay rate is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Work is for up to 9 months.
