As the Student Career Program Manager, you will play a leading role in fulfilling SPH's commitment to student and alumni career development and experiential learning. The Student Career Program Manager will work with the Director of Experiential Learning and Career Services and other members of the Office of Career Services and Experiential Learning to support career development and experiential learning activities at CUNY SPH.

 

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages various aspects of office operations, including front-line communication with students, alumni, faculty, employers and staff; manages the office inbox and answers the phone; maintains webpages, listservs, event calendars, and databases, such as Handshake; distributes emails and newsletters; and manages internal process documentation, data, and invoices.
  • Manages various aspects of event planning and execution for career services and experiential learning, such as career fairs, discussion panels, etc.; runs and troubleshoots virtual event tech on Zoom and Handshake.
  • Develops surveys in programs such as Qualtrics and analyzes data.
  • Facilitates skills-based Career Services workshops.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of student activities.
  • Manages employer relations with an aim of expanding and diversifying CUNY SPH’s employer network; manage employer and experiential learning site databases.
  • Develops student- and public-facing content for various Career Services and Experiential Learning platforms.
  • Liaises with the leadership of the Alumni Network and the Career Skills Academy to support their events and activities, as relevant to OEL and Career Services.
  • Advises students and alumni both in-person and remotely on career development and experiential learning.
  • Assists and participates in college-wide and CUNY-wide activities, such as fieldwork orientations and admitted student events.

 

Note:

  • Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence. All CUNY employees must reside with a commutable distance to the tri-state area.

 

  • Candidates will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of and authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates are required to be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

 

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Two years of experience in student services, public health, policy, public administration or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of student programming, advising, career or experiential learning.
  • Experience with employer relations and outcomes assessment.
  • Familiarity with implementing new technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal/ written communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a track-record of project follow-through.
  • Understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft) preferred.
  • Ability to work evening hours as needed

 

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

  • Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning. 
  • Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals
  • Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.
  • Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs
  • Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting
  • Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them
  • May counsel a limited number of students
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

 

Salary Range: $81,301 to $98,362
