Senior Pastor Assistant
First United Methodist Church is now hiring a Senior Pastor Assistant.

Main Function: The primary responsibility for The Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spiritual leader, the Assistant will serve God faithfully as part of the FUMC staff while assisting the Senior Pastor. The Assistant should use his/her spiritual gifts, education, and experiences to work in union with the office staff to lead in creative ways which encourage the church to grow beyond its existing ministries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access)
- Administrative experience
- Discernment and Confidentiality
- Energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation and commitment to high quality
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- Strong time management skills
- Familiar with or willing to learn the workings of The United Methodist Church
- Familiar with or willing to learn a church database system like Shelby Arena
Principal Duties:
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and other engagements for the Senior Pastor
- Responsible for the flow of traffic & phone calls into the Senior Pastor’s office
- Prepare correspondences for the Senior Pastor
- Responsible for creating and producing the weekly worship bulletins
- Maintain confidentiality
- Coordinate all aspects of baptisms, weddings, and funerals
- Serve as the contact person to schedule and coordinate funerals and weddings
- Provide support to the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor in the annual process of elected leadership
- Prepare periodic worship and guest reports to include evaluative metrics like statistics
- Organize, prepare, and submit annual United Methodist paperwork
- Active participation in ongoing and scheduled meetings
- Assist in coordinating special services and events
- Assist volunteers and office personnel in answering incoming calls
- Serve as part of the church office team
- Serve as the staff liaison for the altar & flower guilds and Walton Memorial Garden
- Maintain the flower calendar and coordinate with the Flower Guild as needed
- Coordinate with the sanctuary Altar Guild regarding weekly worship services and special sanctuary worship services
- Continual professional growth and development
- Be available to staff and church members by maintaining regular office hours as well as returning phone calls & emails
