George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School is a Top 50 law school, located in Arlington, VA, just two miles from downtown Washington, D.C. A relatively young law school, Scalia Law offers students an opportunity to pursue a JD, JM, or an LLM.

 

About the Position:

The Assistant Director of JD Admissions will perform a wide variety of duties for the Admissions Office. The Assistant Director must be familiar with the law school’s admission requirements, curriculum, and miscellaneous factual data, including but not limited to: faculty/student ratio, cost of attendance, admissions and enrollment statistics, bar passage, residency requirements, and career placement. The Assistant Director’s duties require weekday and weekend overnight travel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary contact to prospective and admitted students;
  • Review and evaluate JD applications including conducting admissions interviews to assess the ability and quality of applicants;
  • Represent Scalia Law by traveling to and participating in recruitment events;
  • Provide counseling to prospective and admitted students;
  • Manage the Student Ambassador Program and the Alumni Interview Program;
  • Manage the transfer and visitor applications and onboarding process;
  • Plan and execute all on and off campus events for prospective students;
  • Assist in coordinating on and off campus events for admitted students;
  • Manage the scholarship administration for all incoming and current students; and
  • Serve as a liaison between the Admissions Office, Finance Department, and the university’s Financial Aid Office and other departments.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in the admissions field and working with diverse students;
  • Demonstrated excellence with written and verbal communication, including ability to give presentations to large groups;
  • Ability to work effectively and utilize a range of communication channels with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and community members from a wide and diverse background;
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advance Degree (Juris Doctor or Juris Doctor Equivalent); and
  • Experience with admissions databases (ACES2 and Banner).
