Conference Services Coordinator

 

The Office of Residence Life at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Conference Services Coordinator. This person would be part of the Residence Life staff team that serves 6700 residential students on a campus that is continuing to grow. We are a close-knit department with just over 30 full-time staff members and over 200 student staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate summer conference services: Work with any department or client to arrange and reserve facilities and services to best suit the specific program’s needs and maximize use of university resources.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Summer Conference Assistant staff.
  • Conference marketing and sales: Actively market and sell James Madison University as a conference site.
  • Participate in the Joint Operating Committee: Maintain communication with all university departments involved in the summer camps and conference process (including Dining Services, Facilities Management, Parking Services, Card Services, Athletics, Public Safety, UREC, etc.) through regular meetings of the Joint Operating Committee.
  • Assist with other Residence Life responsibilities, including move-in, resource fairs, and administrative tasks.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational, planning, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including both oral and written communication.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word, and the ability to learn new technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience in Conference Services or another area in Higher Education.
