JOB SUMMARY

This position performs tasks associated with the Center’s education/training initiatives and technical assistance/consultation programs related to evidence-based practice in the field of autism spectrum disorders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. 40% of time – Education/Training
   1. Develop and deliver education/training programs related to best practices in autism spectrum disorders for school personnel, families, and community professionals throughout New York State (i.e. research relevant training topics, create training presentations, develop participant handouts, evaluate trainings); prepare and disseminate training materials (i.e., brochures, flyers)
   2. Participate in Center training activities (i.e., annual conferences, distinguished lecture series, family seminars) and family programs (i.e., picnic, bowling, apple picking, Halloween party, Holiday party, carnival)
2. 40% of time – Technical Assistance/Consultation
   1. Provide technical assistance and consultation to school personnel, families, and community professionals via phone, email, onsite (i.e., autism awareness activities, school settings, gather community resources)
3. 10% of time – Professional Development
   1. Participate in professional developmental activities specific to autism (i.e., attend conferences or seminars, read publications in the field)
4. 10% of time – Administration
   1. Complete administrative duties associated with education/training and technical assistance/consultation; assist with administrative duties that facilitate operation of Center programs (i.e., phone calls, email, photocopying, mailing, etc.)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Participate in the Center’s research initiatives
2. Assist with monitoring of graduate and undergraduate students

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in psychology, education, special education, or related field from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization, required
• Experience working with children/youth with autism, required
• Ability to travel throughout New York State, required
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently, required
• Highly motivated, results oriented, and able to prioritize team efforts, required
• Works well with colleagues and able to meet deadlines, required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, required
• Ability to work with culturally diverse populations

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience providing training to school personnel and parents, preferred
• Three to five years’ experience with children with autism in public schools, preferred
