Job Summary:
- Provides technical and business leadership by defining and supporting the entire manufacturing process for a key family of assemblies, including process methods, technology, equipment and tooling, sequence.
- Selects and continually improves the manufacturing process, methods, and technology to reduce costs and improve quality, capacity, throughput, on-time delivery and safety.
- Troubleshoots and finds root causes of problems; process, equipment, training, documentation, design, etc.. Then drives to resolve. Reacts quickly to resolve production stoppages.
- Uses analytics, design-of-experiments to get to the heart of complex issues.
- Interfaces with Design Engineering during the definition of new products to support design for manufacturing, then supports successful transition to production (industrialization)
- Designs and modifies manufacturing tooling and equipment
- Performs time observations, trade studies and establishes business cases for improvements in processes and products, make/buy decisions. Validates savings (PDCA / DMAIC).
- Updates Process Specifications, work instructions and other standard work docuemnts to support sustainment of improvements.
- Acquires knowledge of contemporary manufacturing technology developments and applications and drives machine and capital equipment acquisition.
- Serves as Liaison between Fabrication, Assembly and Engineering functions. Trains and leads production teams through healthy and productive daily working relationships and kaizen events.
- Successfully manages projects for success, competing priorities.
- Maintains a positive “can do” attitude despite challenges, creates a team environment, exhibits good communication skills, is self-directed.
- Continually improves their own technical, Lean, business knowledge.
Education/Previous Experience Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field of study
· 3+ years work experience in manufacturing
Has a working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, engineering drawings, solid modelling, ERP systems, machinery, manual assembly, DFM, cost analysis, tool design, project management.
Experience with the following is a plus: plastics extrusion, automation, software evaluation/development

Design Engineer

Job Summary:
Focused on managing assigned Souriau – Sunbank Connection Technologies product line(s) Back shell (Composite, Stainless, Aluminum,die cast and accessories) their development and growth with our most important Customer opportunities in the Americas, and supporting adjacent regional needs. Additionally, work to improve new products.
Key responsibilities:
- Development, documentation, and implementation of R&D activities of assigned products including, but not limited to, design, testing, construction, production, and product analysis
- Responsible for the performance of professional work in developing & maintaining composite products including, but not limited to, material selection, processing, testing, documenting, part tooling, plating, marking, and the overall implementation process to secure JSC as a leading manufacturer of these products
- Perform routine engineering work in the application of standard techniques, procedures, processes, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
- Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of component part number structure including, but not limited to, existing and new products, design folders for data entry, and related design standards
- Contribute to the successful implementation of cost reduction projects related to product design, manufacturing, or process activities
- Process engineering change notices including the coordination of affected departments resulting in an effective sequence of date change with the minimum cost impact
- Prepare calculations and analysis to support new product and existing product design changes including, but not limited to, checking designers work to company/customer design specifications, and checking application engineers work to customer expectations and specifications
- Prepare feasibility, prototype and production documentation using accepted design practices and processes.
- Recommend appropriate materials, surface finish, welding, brazing, heat treatment, or other known or new processes that will insure product performance and integrity as defined by specification or customer application requirements
- Assist the senior engineer or senior designers, under direct supervision, in the development, cost reduction and/or enhancement of existing or new products.
- Responsible for resolving manufacturing related issues with component designs including implementing changes to enhance product integrity and manufacturing capability
- Responsible for value added analysis projects. Actively pursues self-development

Education and Previous Experience Requirements
- B.S. in mechanical or design engineering or 5 years equivalent hands on experience in related field.
- Three (3) + years product design and development in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience in related fields, preferably in the interconnect industry.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal presentations and working effectively with peers.
- Advocate of standards and process improvement.
- Experience with Change and Problem Management.
- Methodical approach and able to work multiple projects or tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Must have good analytical abilities, be creative and initiative, and the ability to prepare technical papers for oral presentations
- Must be capable of interpreting military specifications and have a good understanding of engineering drawing practices IAW MIL-STD-100 & ANSI Y14.5
