Communications Consultant 2
As our Communications Consultant you will be part of the Occupancy, Communication and Administrative Services team within University Residences and serve as the marketing and information design specialist. Under general direction, you will develop and coordinate communications for current and future students, families, and customers through print and electronic publication production, creative web writing and visual design, and social media support.
In addition, you will consult with housing staff, provide recommendations on projects, produce quality information pieces, provide written material and ensure information design supports the mission of clients, department and university. You will also manage the Housing Ambassador Housing Tour Program which includes student worker supervision; manage the UR Housing Information Desk which includes directing student workers; and ensure current occupancy management information and communication. You will occasionally participate in meetings and teams, presentations, and backup support for the Associate Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution and one year experience designing, writing and preparing information for web and print OR equivalent experience
- Experience with communications work with social media
- Demonstrated experience in editing written publications
- Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and pay attention to details
- Excellent written communication and public speaking skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to accept feedback on, and make changes to, creative work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the Banner Student Information System
- Familiarity with campus housing in a higher education setting
- Understand user-centered design processes and information architecture principles
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with visual information design
- Experience with photography, video and image editing concepts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience handling confidential information
