Yamhill County has one regular, full-time position in the District Attorney’s office for an attorney to review, prepare, and try criminal cases. Primary duties will be the handling of felony criminal matters. Other duties may include, providing related legal advice to law enforcement agencies, performing related legal research and writing, other functions designated by state statute, including related legal research and writing, post-conviction relief, extradition and fugitive matters, treatment court representation, and other work as required or assigned. The work involves cases and duties requiring an advanced level of experience and ability.
The position requires graduation from an accredited school of law. Three or more years of prosecution experience preferred. The successful candidate must be a member of the Oregon State Bar at the time of appointment and must maintain membership in good standing throughout the term of employment. Bilingual/Spanish speaking candidates are encouraged to apply. Successful completion of a criminal background check is also required.
The successful candidate in this position must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and be organized, with skills in time management, and general keyboarding and computer use, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office. They will be dependable, organized, self-directed, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to interact with co-workers, court staff, victims, and the public in a courteous, professional manner.
